Millsaps Singers Alums Invited to Perform with Mississippi Symphony Orchestra

Alums of the Millsaps Singers are invited to participate in the Singers presentation of Samuel Jones' "The Trumpet of the Swan," which will be performed with the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra conducted by maestro Crafton Beck. The performance will be on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at 7:30 in Thalia Mara Hall located at 255 E. Pascagoula Street in downtown Jackson.

The concert is the last of the MSO Bravo Series for the year. The Millsaps Singers' goal is to get a balanced group of 50-75 alums to augment the current Singers and give real maturity to the sound.

"The Trumpet of the Swan," composed by Jones (B.A., 1957) for the 50th anniversary of Singers, has been performed two times previously by Singers in the Recital Hall at Millsaps College. The performance with MSO offers a unique opportunity to place this strong work before a larger public and to "trumpet" Millsaps. The text was written by Eudora Welty.
